Teacher Resources

This project has been developed to align with LD 291 passed last year by the state legislature.  LD 291 is presently being added to the Maine Learning Results.  I was at a conference and asked some questions about LD 291.  I could not draw out too many answers from the crew from the sate presenting.  The theme I got was to wait for the  Maine Learnign Results to  be updated (which they are doing now,  to add LD 291 to the MLR).  This section will have to be updated then.

Grade Level:
7/8 Grade
Student to computer ratio 1:1

For low level readers some modifications will have to be made:
less questions
more time
links read to them
answers typed for them

For higher level students:
refer to the exceeds the standard in the rubric
have the students find information outside the links provided
have students create: maps, charts, and graphs

Learning Styles:  This project is best for students who like computer use, follow concrete directions, abstract thinking, read and work independenly.  This lesson is ment to be just one part of the teaching of LD 291.  Because of the multiple steps and different learning styles in each step a variety of students can be successful.

I am a 7th grade teacher in Maine developing this project to align with LD 291.  I am giving my students one week to complete the task.  We do not have student email, but students can post to a folder I have on the school server ( that is how they will hand in their work).  All of my students have a MLTI laptop that works.
